Chris Ryan's Santa Cruz photography is on display at the Culinary Center of Santa Cruz / Fresh Prep Kitchens.
The gallery in the main room consists of ten 13x19 images and two slightly smaller (A3) images, printed with Epson UltraChrome K3 inks on a high-quality luster paper. Each is matted and mounted with acid-free, archival quality materials and framed at 18x24, behind UV-resistant glass.
About the collection: I have photographed many wonderful places around the world – most recently the small Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan. But for this showing I decided to focus a little closer to home.
These days many people are spending less time traveling and more time exploring their immediate world, often gaining new insights and a new appreciation of the place they call home. I spent many hours exploring Santa Cruz and the central coast, visiting parts I had never been to and revisiting other parts I thought I knew.
I became a traveler in my own land – a transcendent experience for a reasonable price! For that I gained a fresh perspective of my local stomping grounds, and a suite of images from a world-famous destination that’s right in our own backyard.
Gallery on display at Fresh Prep Kitchens, located at 504 A Front St. (x Cathcart St.), Santa Cruz; 831-429-1390.
